To immediately get your most obvious question out of the way: yes, this film is a less than subtle nod to the classic BACK TO THE FUTURE. Hong Siu-Lung was once sent to the distant past to take a photo of the first Qin emperor (don’t ask…), but got stuck there and now leads a pleasant and quiet life with his family on a remote mountaintop. 25 years later, the inventor of the time machine follows Hong to the Qin Empire, accompanied by an army of mercenaries. Their plan is to kill the emperor, and radically rewrite the history of China. The emperor calls on Hong to put his knowledge of the future to use to thwart the plans of these unwanted intruders. Anyone expecting a spectacular film full of breathtaking fight scenes, romantic interludes, and historical tidbits will certainly not be disappointed!
