Before souls pass on to their next life, they pause in the Other World, a pastel-colored stopover in the afterlife. Little spirits, called soul guardians, have the task of guiding the newly deceased to their reincarnation. Whatever resentment they harbor from their past lives must be left behind in the realm of the dead. Otherwise, it can continue to fester in a new life and transform them into a ‘wrath’, a violent monster that arises when the seeds of evil come to fruition. Soul guardian Gudo looks after the soul of a young girl called Yuri. She harbors so much resentment that she threatens to destroy the balance between the worlds of the living and the dead.
