The kingdom of Abraxeon is in dire straits. The gruesome Dreadites are wreaking havoc across the land. One person is profiting from this: the Deathstalker, an unscrupulous mercenary who scours the battlefields to rob corpses, occasionally killing a Dreadite in the process. That is, until he finds a cursed talisman that can be used to bring the evil magician Nekromemnon back to life. Together with a few colorful companions, the Deathstalker is forced to grudgingly save the kingdom. Steve Kostanski (PSYCHO GOREMAN) loves pulpy fantasy, with good old-fashioned practical effects thrown in for good measure. This is on full display in this remake of the eponymous 1983 film, a generous tribute to the “sword and sorcery” of the 80s. It brings to mind Sam Raimi and Peter Jackson’s first steps, accompanied by a diabolical riff from Slash!
