The 1980s, in an American village that simply oozes “traditional horror film”. College student Deena returns home between classes. An opportunity to see her parents again, for sure, but also her best friend Hattie. Hattie immediately ask a big favor: she needs a replacement for her babysitting gig, that very same evening to boot. It’s the local sheriff’s son that needs watching. The sheriff himself doesn’t have much bandwidth to deal with family matters, given the nature of the package that has just been delivered to his doorstep… Somewhere between WHEN A STRANGER CALLS and HALLOWEEN, Brandon Christensen’s new film has all the ingredients of a vintage horror movie: synthesizers, babysitters in trouble, a battery of sharp knives on the kitchen counter, a hefty dose of Blue Oyster Cult to set the mood, and a dead dog here and there. We’ll forgive the filmmakers for the latter, thanks to a great plot twist!
