Three siblings used to love listening to their grandmother’s stories. She had a knack for weaving a wonderful story out of three “ingredients” that the children could pick themselves. After Grandma passed away, the children visit their grieving grandfather. They try to follow in her footsteps and use her hat as a prop. And before you know it, stories start to emerge about death, grief, and the feeling of someone’s absence. Death is somewhat of a taboo in our modern society, especially for our children. We can tell them little white lies, but sooner or later they’ll have to learn to deal with it.
