EXTRA INFO

I have no idea whether Lucky Luke is well known in Japan, but in Kenichi Ugana they certainly have a man who shoots movies faster than his shadow. In INCOMPLETE CHAIRS, he presents the story of Shinsuke Kujo, a man who considers himself the future of the chair-making craft. At the beginning of the film, he places a “help wanted” ad. The first person to apply is more than surprised when Kujo chooses a rather blunt hammer to round up the interview. Dexter himself would have been proud of the skill with which the interview room was covered in plastic sheeting, a detail that sadly escaped our unfortunate applicant. Kenichi Ugana’s film can be read as social satire, or as a critique of the rampant consumerism that dominates our lives. You may also decide to simply enjoy the sight of blood squirting everywhere while Kujo grimly perseveres in his search for the ideal chair for the people!
