Feisty matriarch Alicia lives in a huge, dilapidated house with a caregiver, because her memory is increasingly failing her. One evening, her daughter Laura, on the road with her daughter Elena, receives a series of disturbing phone calls from Alicia. Unable to reach the caregiver on duty, Laura asks her ex-husband Pedro to visit Alicia and check that everything is okay. This marks the beginning of a nightmare for the poor guy. Alicia seems stuck in her past and claims to be married to César, a monstrous psychopath whose abuse left indelible scars on her psyche. And who does she think César is? That’s right, Pedro! Carmen Maura, the 80-year-old grand dame of Spanish cinema, gives an incredible performance as the delightfully vicious Alicia in this playful horror comedy by Martin Maregui.
