Miriam and her husband are going through a severe crisis in their relationship. They decide to move to the family’s home in the country, where they’re warmly welcomed by her sister Greta and her partner Dylan. It’s an idyllic setting, at the edge of a Canadian lake. The ideal place to blow off some steam and to have long talks by the campfire. That’s exactly what Miriam and Dylan do, until they fall asleep under the stars. But when dawn comes, Miriam is rudely awakened by Dylan, who has forced himself upon her. The reactions in the international press ranged from unanimous praise to shocked astonishment. VIOLATION is one of the hardest films in recent years and – trust us – we’re not exaggerating. And that’s because VIOLATION’s no mere movie, it’s an experience. In the age of #MeToo, if this was a classic tale of rape and revenge, you’d immediately side with the victim. But VIOLATION forces you to go through a traumatic viewing experience that will not leave you unscathed.
