Several kids disappear without leaving a trace and the police is clueless. Until officer Franck de Roland receives an anonymous tip about a new disappearance that might be linked to the others, in some desolate corner of the Vosges region in France. Upon arrival he discovers the case is also linked to an equally brutal and bizarre double murder, an investigation led by sergeant Elisabeth Guardiano which is similarly going nowhere… Not surprising considering the local police are unwilling to cooperate and the village is downright hostile to this couple of big city slickers poking their noses in other people’s business. And then corpses start bubbling up, along with a new lead: that of a local legend which gives children the willies. But now adults too will get frightened at the mere thought of the Soul Eater…
Maury and Bustillo (INSIDE, LIVID, AMONG THE LIVING), forefathers of the New French genre movement, are at it again with a characteristically nasty little thriller that plunges into the macabre fantastique along with a stellar French cast (Virginie Ledoyen, Sandrine Bonnaire and Paul Hamy).
