Welcome to 2073, where the grass is non-existent and the sky is orange! And filled with surveillance drones that hover over the heads of the common folk, while the rich live above the clouds in artificial bliss. Only a few rebels live underground, clinging desperately to a semblance of free life. You may ask yourself, how did we get here? Leave that to Asif Kapadia (SENNA, AMY) to answer. The seeds of future evil have been planted… in our present day, with the rise of authoritarian, (post-)fascist leaders and their Big Tech sidekicks (or is the other way around?) who couldn’t care less about human rights or the global climate crisis. It’s not going to win feel-good movie of the year, but it’s as electrifying a wake-up call as Sex Pistols’ “No Future”. There’s no future… except if we do something about it, now.
